In Response To: Isaac Newton Bledsoe ()

it is my understanding that i am a descendant of isaac bledsoe. not the one you write about, but his father...colonel isaac bledsoe. isaac and his brother anthony helped settle middle tennessee (nashville). col.isaac is said to have hunted with daniel boone and they were called "longhunters". not for the rifles they carried but, for the amount of time they were away on expeditions. there is a bledsoe creek, where isaac and his family lived, about thirty or 40 miles north of nashville. also, there are a bledsoe county and a bledsoe state park to be found in tennessee.

the settlers migrated from north carolina. colonel anthony was the number two man in the settlement behind james robertson. also several of the settlers and among them bledsoe children, were killed by indians.
the bledsoe settlement near bledsoe creek is in sumner county, tennessee.

if you are successful in tracing the family tree i would be most interested in the results.

my grandfather's name was willis green bledsoe and he lived in dickson county tennessee. there were eleven children in his family. i have a book of sumner county info i would be glad to send you if you like. elder's book store in nashville has a number of books on sumner county history, as well as nashville. sumner county is due north and dickson county is due west of nashville.

i never knew my grandparents on the bledsoe side as they were deceased before i was born.

feel free to contact me if i may help you.
ron bledsoe
