Beginning in early 1863, when the Union Indian Brigade occupied Ft Gibson, and I believe throughout 1863. I'm not sure about 1864 without looking it up. Some portion of the regiment, two or more companies, provided escort duty for the supply trains when they began coming down the Texas Road from Ft Scott to Ft Gibson instead of via Neosho MO and down the Arkansas line and then west into Indian Territory.
