Re: Hi Bruce I bought your book!

Bruce,
How profound a statement you made in msg #15836 when you wrote the following

"Historical research fun, but tedious. Oh, yes, but, sadly, correct and less
flawed military history has to follow tedious research. When history writers
take shortcuts, they tend to accept what somebody else wrote about something,
follow established trends rather than strike out in new unfamiliar areas, and,
generally stay comfortable."

Remove the word MILITARY and it applies to any study and research of historical fact.
May I have your permission to make a copy of that paragraph and hang it on the wall in
front of me to provide me with some inspiration to continue my steamboat research?

There are times when I truly wonder if I'm "on a wild goose chase", or if anyone even cares
about what I'm trying to do by uncovering the history of these old Missouri River steamers!
But, I hold tight to the hope that someday, someone might benefit from what we do now to
preserve our history! Keep up the good work! And, thanks for being an inspiration to some of
the rest of us.

Best regards,
Maggie
