I think you refer to Jeffers 8th regiment MO Cav(CSA) brush with Major Lazear's 4 companies from the 12th Cav MSM (Union) on the 24th? Jeffers was quite successful during this period in and around Bollinger and Cape county. He had an estimated 300 men raised primarily from Cape, Bollinger, Madison, and Stoddard counties. He was succesful in capturing a Union militia unit in Dallas on August 17th and nearly did the same at Appleton on the 23rd. He then had the skirmish with elements of the 12th on the 24 th defeating them. He then moved on to Bloomfiled taking that town in stride on Sept 11th with capture of numerous arms and supplies through out the 6 week period.
