Re: Breeding/Training Race Horses

Jack, I have not had time to check the 1870 census. As to relation, I really don't know. My SEMO Morris family is hard to trace. I know that Joshua Morris got into some trouble with the Union in Carter County, Joshua's nephew, William Morris was with Col. Ponder. William Morris had a cousin, James Morris, in Iron County who joined the Union as soon as he was old enough. Caleb Morris in Crawford County was a brother to Joshua and as far as I can determine his side of the family all went with the North. I have not been able to ID any records that completely match Alfred Morris, James Morris (Reynolds County)or Marion Morris. Some of the records come close, we know that Alfred and James were tight with Lucien Farris, John Brawley and Jonathan Jordan of Clardy's. Isaac Baker, Wash Baker and the others from the Henpeck community were their cousins.
