Re: Statue dedication to 1st KCV

Thank you, sir... But the credit for this event in October is due to the Amen Society of the Butler AME Church and others who have continued the drive to see this historic regiment and action commemorated, and I hope that eventually those actions will lead to the preservation of the site of the Toothman Farm and the battlesite. I am very excited to see that statue unveiled as it has been a long time in coming.

Thank you, for your helping me out when I first started researching Island Mound and the 1st KCV 10 years ago!

I continue my research into the 1st KCV and recently completed a long planned and anticipated research trip to the National Archives in Washington DC - A weeklong stint in the Archives - a Father's Day Gift from my wife and children. (Many thanks to Roger Cunningham for helping me get the most out of my trip!).

The story of this regiment... actually, the story of the officers and men that composed this regiment and the challenges they faced is a story that has only been summarized to date. I can only hope that my next writing effort will be worthy of the fascinating story they have to tell.
