Ken - Just a long shot, but in you travels through the newspaper morgues, did you by chance run across any of the Lewis or Hanger clans from the Bellevue area? Most of the bunch were Confederate cavalrymen - some in the Mo. State Guard and some in the 3th Mo. Cav. Reg. Also looking for whatever happened to John Lewis and his son, John Wesley Lewis(born about 1802). These familys would have settled the Bellvue Valley in 1800 with the Reed party on French Land Grants. After the war, John Wesley Lewis' sons, Samuel Henry Lewis and Peter Hanger Lewis (Samuel was a 1st Sgt.in the 4th Mo. Cav.) went to Arkansas, but don't know what happened to their parents or grandparents. Any memory jogs at all? Also, would you happen to be the Kenneth Byrd from Ft. Towson, OK ? Don Stokes
