Hi all -
just flashed on a possible connection/lead. Apparently there was a J.P. in Iron County named D.W. Shaver. As related to me by folks at the Iron County Historical Society, he was a prominent sympathizer who frequently watched over the land of his more active neighbors who "did their thang" in resistance to the Federals.
My gg-gf Wm. Carroll Byrd sold his land to said D.W. Shaver for ONE DOLLAR (!!!?!?!?!) there in Iron County, then bought it all back from him in March, 1863 for the same ONE DOLLAR before immediately selling it to a certain Roberts (near where the old Roberts School in SE Iron County is today; just West of Brunot in Wayne County).
I found these documents in the Iron County Courthouse there in Ironton several years ago now. Is it perhaps possible that Shaver might have done the same thing for the mysterious Tucker as well...?????
yer pard,
Ken
