Jim;
I'm tracking Robert J. Tucker down of Elliot's down. To date I've got 2 possibilities, including one that started in VA, was in Kansas in the 50's Johnson Co Mo in 1860 then back in Kansas for the 1865 census. Certainly might fit the Jayhawker moniker. The other spent time in the MSG and Ripley Co., may have been known by Leeper and friends.
Cross checking dates against the service record to see if I can come up with a mtach that makes sense. Census birth dates on both range from 1821 to 1824. Did not find pension files for either.
There is a UDC record for the Elliot guy that starts his service in 1861 but I've not seen the details yet.
