Volume 1 does have an essay - "'To Carry Off the Glory': Edmund Kirby Smith in 1864" by Jeffrey Prushankin - that covers some of the Taylor-Kirby Smith infighting, but the Confederate Generals in the Trans-Mississippi series generally (no pun intended) looks for new ground to cover, so it tends to lean toward coverage of the more obscure generals over those who have already been written about extensively. There are already complete books out there that go into great depth about both Kirby Smith and Taylor.
