Confederate Generals in the Trans-Mississippi II

Volume 2 of Confederate Generals in the Trans-Mississippi (University of Tennessee Press) has arrived in the warehouse and should be released by the end of the month. There is a lot of Louisiana material in the book, with essays on generals Price and McCulloch, Henry Hopkins Sibley, "Prince John" Magruder, Alfred Mouton, Camille de Polignac, Richard Gano, Mosby Monroe Parson and Joseph Lancaster Brent. All of the essays are good, but the one on Brent - "Joseph Lancaster Brent: Lawyer, Warrior and Prophet of Tank Warfare" - shows groundbreaking research and is worth the price of the book. (Just my opinion.) And a word of warning - the book IS expensive. (Not just my opinion - $65 list price.)
