Re: Confederate Jayhawker Raids 1863-4

Source-A Good Home For A Poor Man, Ft. Polk-Vernon Parish1800-1940 p.80 mentions... in March Taylor was having great difficulties concerning the arrival of Gen. Th. Green, and, was having great difficulties monitoring the advances of Gen. Banks because the couriers and scouts were being murdered by the jayhawkers. Being limited in the cavalry department Taylor was forced to wait until more cavalry arrived before he could raid jayhawkers.
Does anyone know what was Taylor's main reason for the Bayou Teche jayhawker Raids ?
Appreciate any help.
