F. M. Long of Company C, Likens' 35th Tx Cavalry stated in his pension: "In Louisiana our company was sent out after Jay Hawkers for one month." He does not give further details or a time period, but his statement is after describing the "running fight from Mansfield to the mouth of the Red River." It could be assumed the time period was sometime after Yellow Bayou and when the 35th was ordered back to Texas in February of '65.
