Re: Giles Lyons Wilson 12th La Inf.

Larry,

I saw the Claiborne Parish Court House around xmas when it was covered in lights. Absolutely stunning!... Giles son,my GGrandfather, was Ben F.Wilson. But this Ben was born in June 1869 in Winn Parish near Winnfield and after Claiborne Parish in 1880s came to Texas with the family and mostly all buried in Big Spring cemetery now Garland,N.E.Dallas County,Texas.

It is interesting, while with the 12th La.and Johnston's Army outside of Vicksburg,Wilson appears awol on July 8,1863 and most likely came back to his family in Jackson,Parish,La. I notice several others of the regiment listed as awol on that particular date. Wonder what could be the significance of July 8,63 for the troops outside of Vicksburg and how did Wilson get back across the river without being captured.
