I don't know where this Fields was supposed to be.....I do know that after the war he lived in Belton where he was married to Rose Caroline Absher and had his children. Could Fields have been in Shiloh or Vicksburg? I pulled him up once on the internet and after that have not been able to find him. I usually print everything but for some reason didn't. I know his family was from South Carolina. I am going to compare dates of Shiloh, Vicksburg, etc to see if possible he could have come from NC or SC. All the census say he was born in Texas. I have a copy of the 17th which I got from the site you sent. When I come to Texas hopefully I can get more info. I have a second cousin that has the obit and possibly more papers. I am going to Shreveport so will see if I can get a complete copy. If so, I will let you know. Thanks
