Greetings Sondra, William Vann is my great great grandfather. I knew that he served during the Civil War but wasn't aware that he had been shot in the chest. Yes, he was a sheriff and had a hand in capturing Belle Starr. I have never seen a picture or painting of his father David but have seen photographs of William.
