Thomas Fox Brewer, 1833-1870, was the nephew of Lt Col Thomas Fox Taylor and brother of Capt. OHP "Perry" Brewer and William Snow Brewer. His parents were John Brewer and Elizabeth Taylor. He served in both the 1st Cherokee Mtd Vols (Watie's), moved to Co. M with his brothers and then to Co. F, 2nd Cherokee Mtd Vols (Adair's). His service records show him as a private in Watie's Regt and a 1st lieutenant in Adair's Regt. Emmett Starr's Cherokee genealogy states he made captain but the service records that would show this don't exist.

I don't know about him living near Okay. Brewer Bend on the Arkansas is just north of Webbers Falls and what became the Smith Ferry (where present Smith Ferry Road runs into the Arkansas southeast of Muskogee) was originally the Brewer Ferry. Many of the Southern Cherokee settled in the southern Canadian District after the war. My Brewer and West ancestors lived near Briartown after the war.
