More on Thomas Fox Brewer from 'Find a Grave':

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=10645199

Wife Adalaide is buried in the same cemetery -- Greenleaf Cemetery, west of Park Hill.

As to his Civil War service, he was a private in Co. C, 1st Cherokee Mtd Vols. His older brother OHP "Perry" Brewer was 1st lieutenant and William Snow was 1st Sgt. and George Washington was a private. John Brewer, age 54, also private, co. C, was probably their father (my ggg grandfather). Additional companies were created and temporarily added to the 1st Cherokee Mtd Vols. OHP Brewer signed a receipt as captain of company M. Starr must be incorrect that Thomas Fox became captain of co. M since this company was transferred to the 2nd Cherokee Mtd Vols as co. F with OHP as captain and Thomas Fox as 1st lieutenant and William Snow as 2nd lieutenant -- Feb 3, 1863.

OHP was elected Lt Col of the 2nd Cherokee Mtd Vols in July 1864. Thomas Fox may have become captain at that time but I cannot verify that. In Sept 1863, William Snow signed a receipt as "Captain, 2nd Cherokee Regt." but I don't know what company.

These are the older brothers of my gg grandmother, Nancy Ella Brewer.
