These "digests" go out about every two to three days and include the headers of the most recent posts and posters' names at the top of the message board. If you see something of interest you can scroll down the message and read the full-text of the message. Regarding Confederate numbers at Honey Springs (Elk Creek), IT. I devoted quite a bit of time to this a few years ago, as I could never find anything near the 6,000 number put forth in Blunt's report. I have never been able to find any good numbers for unit strengths of the Confederate forces closer than six-months prior to the battle and approximately six-months or more after. In addition, the Trans-Mississippi Inspector General's reports for weapons counted several months after Honey Springs are no more than a couple of thousand (2,000) arms of all sorts. The only way I can get near to the 5,000 to 6,000 figure is if I include Cabell's men, but of course, they did not participate in the battle, but were nearby.

Can you tell me where reliable numbers come from, other than Northern reports and newspapers that justify a number of 5,000 or more Confederate participants in the battle of Honey Springs?
