Mr. Busby et. al. I am writing a biography of a Virginia doctor[Capt. RG Holloway] that was assigned to the 30th Alabama Infantry for the Atlanta Campaign. He joined the 30th AL in January of 1864 at Dalton, GA. The week before Easter I was in Dalton, GA trying to "follow" Dr. Holloway. While there I ran across a large Confederate cemetery where 421 unnamed Confederate soldiers are buried. They died in various CSA hospitals in Dalton. At the same cemetery there is a very large monument erected by the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. It has the names and regiments of Confederate solders that died in the hospitals in Dalton and are buried in the cemetery. The monument has hundreds of names on it. On the old highway US 41 that goes through Dalton is the Blunt House. This was the house of the Blunt Family. Mr. Blunt supplied most of the material for the Quartermaster and Medical Dept. of the Confederate army that wintered in Dalton. Most of the Confederate officers were entertained at the Blunt house. As the Union Army was entering Dalton, the Blunts left and made their way to Chicago were Mr. Blunt had businesses. The Union army also used the Blunt house as a hospital while they were in Dalton.
