It would appear he died in hospital at Meridian, Miss. in 1863. There appear to be no records available for Meridian for this period.

D. C. Busby, Private, Company F, Snodgrass’ Regiment Alabama Volunteers,* enlisted October 31, 1861 at Camp Cheatham for one year, recorded April 30, 1863 as a patient in the General Hospital, Meridian, Miss., recorded June 30, 1863 as absent, at hospital sick, receipt for the effects of deceased soldiers of $24,00 was filed in 1863, his name is associated with a Manuscript No. 2880, dated March 31, 1864, remarks ‘Died’

* This company subsequently became Company F, 55th Regiment Alabama Volunteers
