His file contains no copy of a parole at the end of war. I would suspect that he was never issued a parole and his Q. M. Department scattered to the wind without being captured by the Yankees.

As to Flags, the Stars and Bars is the name given for the Confederate First National Flag. This was followed by two successive National Flags, the Second and Third. I suspect you are referring to the Confederate Battle Flag.
