Pvt. Archer Avary Sr, Co. A, Cavalry, Cobb's Legion. After the War, he attended the Southern Medical College and became a physician. He did post-graduate work at the Universities of Bavaria and Vienna. He was president of the American Cancer Society in 1908.

* His name appears on a Muster Roll

Military Convention entered into on the 26th day of April,
1865, between General Joseph E. Johnston, Commanding
Confederate Army, and Major General W. T. Sherman,
Commanding United States Army in North Carolina.

Roll dated Greensboro, N. C., April 30, 1865
Paroled at Greensboro, N. C., May 1, 1865

Note, This actual document should be located at the National
Archives in Washington, D. C.
I do not know if each individual actually signed and

received a personal copy. If so, he would have retained.
It may or may not have survived his death.

During their period of actual service, soldiers discharged
received Certificates of Discharges, the original copies and
those for individual soldiers may, or may not have

survived to be filed in these Compiled Service Records

At war's end, Confederate units disbanded and all command structure was lost including paper work.
