Re: Death Of a Cobb's Legion Cavalryman on 4/12/18

Our ancestors must have known each other quite well. I'm glad Sandy survived the war! Have you seen the Georgia Confederate pension applications for the Leckies at http://cdm.georgiaarchives.org:2011/cdm/search/collection/TestApps/searchterm/leckie/order/title? These people must have been some of your ancestors (especially James), since they all filed for their pensions in Hall County. Do you have any stories passed down through you family from Sandy about his exploits while he was in Cobb's Legion Cavalry? I’m always looking for more information about the men who served in the two companies (C and H) from Athens. There's a roster I created for company H which can be seen at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gacogs/search/military/companyH.html (Clarke-Oconee Genealogical Society Web site). One of these days I hope to create a roster for company C and have it posted there, too.
