Thanks George, Yes they could have been at a Confederate conscription camp at Decatur, Georgia which of course in near Atlanta.

Lillian Henderson has Peter J. Lamb as enlisting in 1861 however turn of the century clerks claim he was never on the muster rolls of the 6th Georgia. She has no listing for Isaac Spears.

The 6th Georgia Infantry was at the Battle of Olustee, Florida in February of 1864 and although they are not shown in the Confederate order of Battle during the Atlanta Campaign one would they should have been? Their records are missing during this time period.

They both were taken prisoner on August 7, 1864 according to their Federal POW Records. The Battle of Utoy Creek occurred on this date. There are numerous references to them being in the 1st Georgia. From my experience many of the 1st George State Troops were at Utoy Creek and some were taken as prisoners. The issue with the 1st Georgia State Troops is that their rosters are not 100%. I've saw Isaac D. Spears before and have wondered if he might be the soldier in question.

I don't know why the 6th Georgia Infantry is lacking records during the Atlanta Campaign? Your answer is probably as good as any.
