Saw your inquiry here, and on the 9th Georgia Message Board.
As others have responded, there is a gap on D Company for
several months before and after Gettysburg. A review of the
Walton County newspapers may provide an answer. All I have
is what is contained in Henderson's:
Raley, Henry D.-4th Corporal June 11, 1861 . Wounded at Pe-
tersburg, Va. June 17, 1864 . Died from wounds in 1864 .
A check of the Confederate "Roll of Honor" for Gettysburg
lists a Pvt. James Mann awarded the Roll of Honor" of D Company
for the 9th's actions in the Wheatfield at Gettysburg on 2 July 1863.
