The Georgia in the Civil War Message Board

The information I was given stated there was some sort of "whistle stop" rally(s) held where the men would get onboard and ride the train to an induction center.
I was given this persons name by a cousin to see what I could find out. She was at the same time looking at other sources too. Since my original post here she learned the info about the rally train I posted. I think the man may have boarded the train somewhere in the NW Ga area. She did state that he was buried in the NW Ga area and that there is a confederate marker in place. I dont know the name of the cemetery yet.

As best I can tell this man was either a brother or uncle to my GG Grandmother who was Sarah Cameron (Ayers) born in Franklin Co. Ga. Valentine Cameron must have moved from Frankin Co to NW Ga or was there for some other reason at the time he joined. Her father was Duncan Gaines Cameron.

Currently I cannot verify the train rally and out of state enlistment, and dont have a reasonable theory of why he (or anyone) wouldnt have signed up locally.

Interesting to say the least !!!!
