Greg's remarks on the Austrian Lorenz are correct.

Inspection reports for the Army of Tennessee written during the summer of 1864 demonstrate that the Lorenz had been issued to almost every brigade. As a general rule, roughly equal numbers of the Austrian Lorenz, the British Enfield and the U.S. Springfield were reported. In contrast, Confederate avalry commands usually carried a wider variety of long arms and carbines.
