Ben is correct

Hello,

I have been out of town on business.

I have seen ANV flags in almost all of the museums that have them, mostly on the displayed side - but quite a few with the reverse sides as well - and Ben is right - all of them have stars sewn to BOTH sides of the blue cross! I cannot recall about the Charleston Depot ANV style flags but can find out easily enough.

I will have to dig out my notes on Bragg pattern flags but I can tell you that pretty much all of the 12 star ANV style flags from the Mobile Depot that I have seen had the stars sewn to one side and the reverse side cut away.

We all respect very much all of the research that the late Howie Madaus has done and sometimes he was wrong just as sometimes we all are wrong. Considering the date of the Todd entry this might have been well before he really got to see all of the flags he finally got to see over nearly 40 years of work. I am not a weapons expert compared to him but I know for a fact, as Ben also correctly stated, that the AOT used a lot of imported Austrian Lorenz rifles as I have seen them on ordnance reports while doing research. They were very popular in Gen. Cheatham's/Brown's Division in fact. Cleburne's Division also had some.
