Re: 2nd National Flag at Gettysburg

According to the "Colors of Grey" War Department #124 is listed as "Second National Pattern, twelve stars remaining (65x69 fragmentary). Captured at the battle of Spotsylvania, Virginia, May 1864, by Lt. George E. Hachenberg, 49th Pennsylvania Infantry.

It is possible to be the 32nd North Carolina's flag. I had always thought it was the 44th Georgia's Flag from Doles' Brigade.

Almost forgot, the 20th North Carolina captured the 49th Pennsylvania's flag. I will have to look through my files and tell you if it was the National or State Flag.

Again, have a good night
