I ran across a refence a while back to later ANV 3rd Bunting Issue flags being slightly smaller than the earlier issued ones. The statement was that they tended to be more in the range of 45"x45" than 48"x48". Can anyone shed some light on this. I was able to see the 3rd bunting flag of the 2nd NC infantry at the Texas Civil War Museum in Ft. Worth this past weekend. This one actually measured 44-1/2" on the hoist and 49" on the fly. It had a distinctly rectangular look to it. Thanks.
