His statement of the various shades of red for the silk flags comes from his years of documenting them. He did have a volume of ANV and related flags nearly ready to go before he passed away that may still come out someday. That's where his research went to.

I would have to dig deep into my files for this but I just do not know of any ANV silk flag that was a deep red color; virtually all were much lighter shades, some of which have faded to a cream color.
