Re: N.Y.S.V Flag captured, impossible?

According to the 106th PV history account of this engagement they reported that once realized they were enveloped, and escape impossible. The color bearer tore the flag from its staff. A brief attempt to conceal it in his clothing was detected and several other members of the regiment rushed to his aid as they tore it up to shreads and hid the pieces, to prevent its capture. The staff was broken and tossed over their works. It also stated that a Major Anderson of the 47th Georgia opposing them stepped forth to secure their surrender. In the regiment only one officer and 28 men escaped capture.
