Alan,

According to the newspaper article Rucker had "been kindly cared for at the residence of Mr. Adams the well know banker of Aberdeen" had "his health and vigor restored" and was preparing to depart. A line is missing after that but it appears that as he departed for Forrest's Headquarters he received a note along with the flag from Mrs. Leedy and he responded in kind. Both were printed in the paper and were dated August 20. She stated that the flag was "presented to the officers and men of the 6th Brigade Forrest's Cavalry." He does state that he received it "in behalf of the brave men, whom, through me, you have thus honored." So, there was no ceremony, Rucker was there, the men weren't. Unfortunately, there is no citation as to the name of the newspaper but it is a direct copy of the original from the Mississippi Archives.
