Col., Later Brig. Gen., George Gibbs Dibrell raised the 8th (also called the 13th) Tennessee Cavalry, CSA. He raised the regiment in 1862 after not being re-elected Lt. Col. in the 25th Tenn. Inf. at the reorganization in Corinth Miss. May 1862. He was promoted to Brig Gen. early in 1865.

I have not posted Samuel H. Alexander on the 16th Tenn Uniform page due to the possibility that this this would seem to be a cavalryman & not the man who was in the Regiment.

To my knowledge a family member of Andrew J. Lacy has proved that this was not the man in the 51st, although I dont know if this is correct. The photo on the 16th site of Andrew Jackson Lacy is shown on the 8th (13th) Tenn Cav website as A.J. Lacy, & I believe they are most likely correct in this, but it has been stated that this man was in the 16th Tenn hence the photo on the 16th website. This makes to my knowledge 3 who are most likely not 16th Tenn members.
