Hehehehe. I understand. That thing has to weigh a bunch. The breech is huge for such a short tube. One of my corporals is coming by tomorrow to put my six pounder tube (850 pounds) back on the carriage. He works for Link-Belt and has one of those big service trucks with the crane on the side. Thank the Lord for hydraulics and friends that have access to them. Plus he lets me play with the crane. How cool is that? I hope you can get hold of this great piece. It's surely a cool "chunk" of history. I hope you post back when you get the concrete out of the bore and let us know if it IS rifled and what that looks like. I found some stuff online after searching again. It was basically the same stuff John presented. You might also want to post this on Jim's Artillery Message Board.
