Didn't they say the object was x-rayed, which led them to believe that it was a land mine? What facility did the x-ray assessment? If they were so afraid of it, why even x-ray the object, or even risk damaging the x-ray facility? Perhaps it was an industrial x-ray instrument, although I'm beginning to think the x-ray story is also bogus. Nevertheless, the take home message is that 32-pdr solid shots are only prone to explode when covered with C4. The whole affair is sad and embarrassing.
