S. H. Medders, Private, Company K, 35th Mississippi Infantry, enlisted August 21, 1862 at Verona, Miss. by Col. W. S. Barry for 3 years, recorded absent, sick at the end of year 1862 muster, killed by railroad accident February 12, 1863, his father filed claim for the settlement of his effects October 18, 1863, description” 23 year old Farmer, born in Sumter County, Alabama, 5’ 4”, dark complexion, back eyes

Note: I would guess he died while traveling from somewhere in Mississippi to Camp Timmons near Vicksburg where the regiment was located at the time

Barry for 3 years, recorded absent, sick at the Sep/Oct., 1862 muster, killed by railroad accident February 21, 1863,* present at the July 1, 1863 muster, captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863, paroled July 8, absent without leave August 23 to October 10, 1863, present at the end of year 1863 muster, receipted for an issue of clothing June 26, 1864, last recorded present at the July/August, 1864 muster, no further records

* This is an apparent clerical error
