Dear Friends;
I am and have been trying to find the name the Hospital and camp at;
Milldale, Snyders Bluff, Snyders Mill, Haynes Bluff, Drumgool's Bluff,
spelled many ways and I am sure other names are used.
Wnen one reads he O R, etc., it is all messed up.
One not familiar with the territory will come to the conclusion that all these are
seperate and far scattered places.
This is not true.
They are all close connectged and interconnected.
There was a large Confederate Hospital there.
And as the Siege approached, there were at least Three regiments of
Missisisppi troops there, the 35th, 36th and another one, the 37th i think
Also, Three Regiments of Louisiana troops there,
Louisiana General Herbert (Pronounced Hey -Bear) was in command.
This was the Northern part of the defense of Vicksburg.
Grand Gulf was the Southern most portion.
The Snyder's Bluff thing was very important
There was a Log Raft across the Yazoo River, as long as the C S A was at
Snyders Bluff and the Log Raft was in place. the Yankee Army was denied'
the use of the Yazoo Watershed.
This necessitated General Grant's Tallahatchie Campaign and General Sherman's
Steel Bayou Campaign. When we go up there looking about today one will wonder
if they were all crazy to think they could make it work.
Regardless and what ever.
I have said this to ask the question.

Can any one give me a hint as too the name of the C S A Camp and Hosptial.
