David do you think any of these men that died at Austin were buried at Austin first and then moved to the National Cemetery shortly after the war. I'm looking for any union cavalrymen in the fore mentioned units, that died at Austin and were buried at Austin and then disinterred to the National Cemetery in Little Rock near the war's end and up until 1868. I'm trying to figure out if the army would have hauled the dead from Austin to Little Rock for burial at the time of death. The churches at Austin served as hospitals during the war for both Union and Confederate soldiers, but of coarse at different times. There are records that state "died in hospital, Austin, Arkansas".
