Another fight took place at Stoney Point on May 20th, 1864. A patrol consisting of 60 men from the Federal 8th Mo. Cavalry were ambushed by McCray's men, who had been reinforced by "several guerrilla bands" according to the regimental returns. The men charged into the rebs, setting them aflight. According to the report the 8th killed 3 men, captured 6 men with mounts, and 16 weapons, indicating a pretty good skirmish. The book Rebel's Hell by Kay Sakaris names several men listed as guerrillas who were captured on that date in White Co.
