The only artillery that I have seen in the obscure records attached to Fort Pleasent and Frost Missouri Infantry Brigade were Ruffner's/Von Phul's Battery. I've have always thought that these were two seperate batteries since at least 4 guns accompanied Clarks 9th Missouri Regiment on a raid against Union Shipping on the Mississippi River in June of "63. It would seem that enough guns would have been left behind for the Forts defence while they were gone on this raid.

On one note Capt Ethan Pindall of Com. "D" Mitchell's 8th Missouri Inf. in his diary "serving with Honor by Banasik stated, on Sept 7th, 1863 entry "Our works extend from the river two miles below the city. to the eastern part of Crystal Hill, a distance of 6 miles. Gen'l Fagan's Brig. is on the extreme right, Parson's on Fagan's left, Frost in the center and McRea's on the left."

This should help with determining the order of battle for Little Rock.

According to Capt. Pindall, Gen'l Frost was in command of Prices Division during the Battle of Little Rock until the return of Gen'l Holmes in late September. Frost Brigade, with also contained Musser's Battalion until it was consolidated with the 9th Missouri in late September, was under the command of Col John Clark.
