Re: Consolidations at Port Hudson

The consolidations [Arkansas and other troops] that occurred at Port Hudson are extremely difficult to trace--and I have been working to reconstruct them for many, many years.

General Orders #5, of January 7, 1863 represented only one of many versions of these regimental consolidations. There were consolidations before and after this order.

I'm not sure that you really want to examine the minutiae that I have gathered regarding these consolidations, but I can send you what I have if you are brave enough to wade through them.

By the way, Bryan and I have yet to agree on some of the iterations, but perhaps we will be able to resolve most of our variances one of these days. The 12th Arkansas presents one of the biggest disagreements that we have on this topic.

Sometimes, I just wish I had selected another subject for my primary research objective. But, it is what it is.
