The Heritage Trail is for tourist and not real history minded folks. They are not going to get you on rough dirt roads. As long as they have you in the general area and driving on a nice paved road all is well. At least 90% of Steele's retreat route is dirt roads and at certain times of the year some of them are closed off. The Butterfield stage line and any historic trail are usually marked by the nearest paved road.
