This is an outstanding book. Even if your field of interest doesn't specifically include Parsons' crack Texas Cavalry Brigade, it's well worth your time. Editor Anne J. Bailey has included summaries of the events covered by the order book, as well as meticulous footnotes that expand upon the names and units mentioned in the orders.

The order book includes references to Arkansas and Missouri units, along with many, many Arkansas place names -- towns, camps, etc. It's a "must have" reference book, as far as I am concerned. My copy is getting pretty dog-eared from use.
