Soooooooooo, it is possible that the Union Cavalry possibly killed Lawhon. Since it involved just the one person (as far as the tale goes), the Union might not have reported it or wrote it down. Also, possibly the bushwhackers could have committed the killing. I hesitate to call it murder although he was shot in the back. Lawhon was running away from these people, so apparently he was afraid of them. I've read where a lot of the bushwhackers, jayhawkers, etc. often wore the uniforms of either side. They could have been wearing Union uniforms and actually been bushwhackers, etc.

I had heard that you were from this area. Would love for you to come speak at our Civil War Round Table sometime. I know you are very knowledgeable about this area.
