I'll let Bryan sort out all of Colonel Crawford's units, but at Shiloh, Captain Crawford was wounded by a shell burst on April 6, about 9:00 am near Shiloh Church while commanding Company E, First Arkansas Infantry, Gibson's Brigade, Ruggles Division. OR Vol. 10, part 1, page 487. He and others wounded by this single shell were the first casualties taken at Shiloh and occured an hour prior to the "first real engagement with the enemy".
