He had six brothers who also served in the war with three fighting for the South and three fighting for the North. Family history says he saw one of his brothers in the Northern lines at the battle of Pea Ridge and refused to fight the rest of the day for fear of killing his brother. I had an aunt tell me he was a raider after the war.
