The infantry forces of Arkansas were all in vicinity of Little Rock by that time.The army was trying to reorganize after the Prairie Grove fiasco and proceeded down the Ark River. THere were no battles anywhere around Little Rock until the movement up the river in late summer of 63. Perhaps your ancestor was wounded at Prairie Grove or soon after and brought with the units as they fell back down the Ark River and died later of complications.
