I can truthfully say that I do not know a thing about dipping snuff or
chewing tobacco nor for that matter even smoking a cigarette.
My dear, usually sweet, devout Christian great aunt who lived to be way
up in years, dipped snuff on the sly.
Way back, using tobacco products was the way to go.
I was fully grown before I knew that my aunt dipped and it came as a shock.
Her daddy was a CSA soldier with the 5th Tenn, and her grandfather served with
the 36th Arkansas. Her great grandfather died in the Yankee Prison in Little Rock.
So she was a true Southern lady but she still dipped snuff.
True story.
